4 November 2019: Border Control Analysis

We do understand that the Kenya Coast Guard Service (KCGS) has taken charge of security at the Kisumu dock ahead of its launch.

The Kenya Coast Guards presence has been positive, there's less crime around Kisumu port neighborhoods.

The new apparatus has 'distupted' cross - border crime significantly, with smuggling networks, pushed back to reactive old Illicit pipelines from Uganda - and Tanzanian.

The restructuring of police units at the border crossing has also complicated the traditional smuggling routes - of Busia, Malaba and Isebania border crossing drop points.

It will be interesting to know whether this interdiction is Intelligence led, or simply bad planning on the part of the smugglers.
